Hoda Kanoo, Founder and Chairperson of Abu Dhabi Music Foundation, awarded certificates to the students.
A total of 37 Bachelors degrees, 132 higher diplomas and 67 diplomas were awarded. Awards were also given to those who showed outstanding performance in their respective disciplines. The Chancellor's Award was given to five graduates. Another nine students were given the Corporate Awards.
Arab Business Machines, Barclays Bank, Union National Bank and Xerox Emirates also gave awards to those who achieved top grades in Business, Information Administration and Information Technology.
An official of the college yesterday said a large percentage of the graduates are already working, mainly employed by the government departments, oil companies, semi government departments, Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and banks.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Nicholas Gara, Director of the ADWC, said the total number of graduating students this year is 468, with the inclusion of certificate students.
Noor Al Tamimi, Business Development Manager of Alnomas Interiors, presented the keynote speech.
Noor, a mother of two children, is a former student of the ADWC. She graduated from the college in 1998 in the business programme with distinction. She gained work experienced at the Union National Bank and the First Gulf Bank before launching her own company.
In her speech, Noor encouraged the graduates to achieve all they are capable of and not to limit themselves.
Rehab Omar Saeed Ateeq, today an Etisalat employee and another graduate of the college, presented the graduate speech. She took distinction in the communications technology programme. She thanked the students, families, college staff and the community on behalf of her fellow students for their support and assistance.
