Abu Dhabi: The UAE civil aviation authority on Wednesday denied rumours being circulated of the hijacking of a flydubai aircraft in Iranian airspace.

Saif Al Suwaidi, director-general of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), said that Flight FZ301, which was flying from Dubai to Kabul, had returned to the emirate’s airport.

The passengers resumed their journey later, as the aircraft left Dubai International Airport at 8.31am on Wednesday.

The authorities revealed that an incident had taken place on the plane, involving one passenger who was detained by the competent authorities as soon as the flight returned to Dubai.
