Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Theyab Bin Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport and chairman of Etihad Rail, recently reviewed Etihad Rail’s new strategy and goals at a meeting of its board in Al Dhafra Region.
Mattar Al Tayer, vice-chairman, and others members of the Etihad Rail Board of Directors attended the meeting.
Shaikh Theyab was briefed on the company’s operational progress to date, future plans and initiatives.
Before the meeting, Shaikh Theyab toured the Etihad Rail site in Mirfa, visiting and inspecting a number of facilities, including the Operations Control Centre, the maintenance building, and the company’s fleet of locomotives and wagons. The railway has so far transported 18.2 million tonnes of sulphur granules from its sources in Shah and Habshan to the export point in Al Ruwais.
During the visit, Shaikh Theyab also met with a number of Emirati employees from Al Dhafra region and heard them express their pride in working on such an ambitious national project and their interest in learning as the project grows in the future.
