Meet Medhavi Bidhuri, the cricketer who is internet’s new heartthrob

Cricketers are constantly finding new and creative ways to celebrate wickets, with some celebrations standing out for their uniqueness. At the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026, Medhavi Bidhuri has grabbed attention with one such celebration.

The Delhi leg-spinner produced the now-viral ‘6-7’ gesture after dismissing South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh during Central Delhi Queens’ tournament opener.

The wicket came in the 16th over, when Arushi Goel completed a diving catch at mid-wicket. Bidhuri then raised and lowered both hands in the distinctive ‘6-7’ celebration, a gesture that has gained popularity among Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences.

Bidhuri finished the match with impressive figures of 2/24 from four overs, although Central Delhi Queens eventually suffered a 29-run defeat.

The celebration has a personal story behind it. Bidhuri had wanted to wear her usual No. 12 jersey, but the number was already taken. Her younger sister suggested she switch to No. 67, combining the jersey number with the viral ‘6-7’ trend and turning it into a unique wicket celebration.

“This ‘six-seven’ thing is trending a bit, and my younger sister, who’s like a brother to me, told me to wear jersey number 67 and keep this as my celebration,” Medhavi said after the match.

The viral celebration is the latest highlight in Bidhuri’s rise through Delhi cricket. The 20-year-old right-arm leg-spinner has been part of Delhi’s domestic setup for several years and has also represented the state at Under-19 level.

Bidhuri made her mark in the Delhi Premier League during the 2025 edition, when she represented South Delhi Superstarz. In the final against Central Delhi Queens, she produced a crucial spell of 3/26 from three overs as South Delhi Superstarz successfully defended 121 runs to win the title by just one run.

Her performances have also earned her recognition beyond the domestic circuit. Bidhuri was among the players registered for the Women’s Premier League 2024 auction, highlighting the attention she had already attracted with her performances.
