Patna: A girl was brutally killed after being gang-raped in Bihar. Her younger brother who resisted rape was also murdered.

Police said the nine-year-old, a resident near the Saraiya police station in Muzaffarpur district, was tending cattle along with her eight-year-old sibling when the miscreants caught them.

Subsequently, they took the girl to a secluded area along the river bank and raped her. The assailants killed the victim and then threw her body into the nearby river. They then murdered her brother to destroy all evidence.

The incident came to light when family members launched a search for the missing children when they didn’t return in the evening. They found their bodies floating in the river.

The police have registered a case against three people and begun an investigation. “We have begun investigation into the case. None will be spared,” local district superintendent of police Harpreet Kaur told the media today.

This is the second major incident of rape in the past week. Last week, a grade 10 girl was allegedly gang-raped by 10 students in West Champaran district. She was enrolled in a government high school and was on her way home when the accused persons overpowered her, took her to a sugarcane field and raped her one by one until she lost consciousness, according to the police.
