Dubai: The skies dumped a massive amount of rain in coastal areas from Monday morning until Tuesday morning and Jumeirah in Dubai got the highest recorded rainfall.
Rainclouds developed over Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain on Monday until Tuesday. The capital took the lashing on Tuesday morning.
According to figures from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the first showers of the year for Dubai, specifically in the Jumeirah area, reached 39.6mm.
Ras Al Khaimah came in second with 20.7mm of rain.
Abu Dhabi Corniche received 7.4mm of rain while other parts of the country in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah got below 6mm of rain as well.
On Wednesday, the weather will be partly cloudy in general with a chance of rainfall at different times mainly over western, some eastern areas and over the islands.
The winds will be moderate winds in general, freshening at times.
By evening, the humidity will increase. This will go on until the early morning and could cause fog or mist to rise, especially in internal areas.
Thursday will remain partly cloudy with moderate winds.
The fog / mist warning extends until Thursday as relative humidity is expected to rise in the western coastal and internal region, reaching up to 90 per cent in Sila and 97 per cent in Mukhariz.
The rest of the coastal areas of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah will have humidity levels of between 73 per cent and 77 per cent.
The Arabian Gulf will be rough on Wednesday becoming moderate on Thursday while the Oman Sea will be slight to moderate on Wednesday, becoming moderate the day after.
