ABU DHABI: A double-deal of sandstorm and rain were seen in different parts of the UAE on Tuesday, as weathermen raised the orange alert for swimmers due to rough seas.

Light rain poured in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and parts of Dubai, while blowing dust reduced visibility in the affected areas.

The National Centre Meteorology (NCM) has warned that the Arabian Gulf waters will continue to be rough for most of the day and warned swimmers against going out into the open sea.

UAE forecasters expect convective clouds formation associated with rainfall and fresh winds to fan waves of up to 7 feet until 6pm today, Tuesday.

The orange alert — which warns people about hazardous weather events — is up on the north-western waters off the UAE.

Light rain was also reported over Al Marfa, and blowing dust over Sweihan and Al Minhad on Tuesday morning.
