Dubai: Some residents in the UAE had a brief respite from hazy and dusty conditions, as light showers drizzled on some areas on Monday afternoon.

The country’s weather bureau, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCMS), has posted some clips on social media showing light rain in the neighbouring mountainous towns.

Light to moderate rains were reported in Wadi Shi in Khorfakkan, as well as in Al Bedyah in Fujairah as of 4:30pm. More rains are likely to fall on Tuesday, as weathermen have predicted cloudy and hazy conditions to linger.

A thick blanket of haze descended on most parts of the country on Sunday as winds kicked up dust, and forecasters have predicted that the conditions will persist for a few days.

As of 4:30pm on Monday, the country’s temperatures hit as high as 35.5 degrees Celsius. Forecasters said that from Monday to Tuesday morning, the UAE will experience "fair to partly cloudy weather in general and hazy at times."

“Some clouds  will develop eastwards, may become convective clouds by afternoon, and may be associated with some rainfall,” NCMS said.

“Light to moderate winds in general, freshening at times during daytime and causing blowing dust / sand and poor horizontal visibility over the exposed areas.”
