Dubai: Visibility in Al Ain and some parts of the western region dropped significantly on Saturday afternoon due to blowing dust and haze.

Dust suspended in the air reduced visibility to 800 metres in Khalifa College in Al Ain and Sweihan on Saturday afternoon. Visibility also dropped to 1,000 metres in scattered parts of the country.

Southwesterly to Northwesterly, in general, and Easterly wind, with speed 20km/h to 30km/h, with gusts of 38km/h, caused the dusty conditions.

Qasyoura, Owtaid, Mezaira in the western region are also hazy along with the coastal areas of Sila and Al Ruwais. The Dalma island is also reportedly hazy.

Forecasters expect some clouds to develop over the mountain areas in the east by Saturday afternoon. The clouds may bring fresh showers over the mountains.

Maximum temperatures will be in the high 40s with Abu Dhabi peaking at 47C while Dubai and Sharjah will have 46C.

Similar conditions are expected to prevail over the same areas on Sunday as the same winds will affect the country and kick up a notch with gusts of 40km/h. Rain clouds may also form in the east.

Humidity levels will rise on Monday along the coast. Humid during morning over the coasts form 65 per cent to 75 per cent in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Local cloud formation that may bring rain is again expected over the eastern region.

Winds with speed of 20km/h to 30km/h, reaching 42km/h, will kick up dust and sand especially when there is cloud activity.

The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea on Sunday will be slight to moderate on Sunday and Monday.
