Dubai: Rains hit some sun-scorched locations in UAE on Thursday, bringing a much-needed respite from the sweltering heat.

Certain areas in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah were bathed in rain showers at past 1pm, according to the latest weather advisory.

Light to moderate rain greeted motorists plying the Shaikh Khalifa Road in Fujairah as of 1:39pm. At past 3 pm, moderate rain was also reported in Al Manaie – Shawkah road, as well as in Masafi area.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) had earlier forecast that there are chances of cloud formation and rainfall in the eastern and southern regions of the country from 1pm to 8:30pm today.

Also expected today are fresh winds blowing in dust and reducing visibility on roads to less than 2,000 metres.

The lowest minimum temperature touched 24.8 degrees Celsius in Jais Mountain at 5:30pm.

UAE residents will continue to bask in hot and hazy weather this weekend. Friday will be “humid westward” in the morning and hot and hazy during daytime.

There is also a probability of “some convective cloud formation eastward and southward” in the afternoon, while southeasterly to northeasterly and northerly winds will cause blowing dust and sand at times during the day.

Saturday will also be “humid westward” in the morning and hot and hazy throughout the day, with a chance of some convective clouds forming eastward and southward by afternoon.
