Dubai: Hot and hazy weather is here to stay for a few more days, as the “hottest days of the year” are about to end.
July and August are the hottest months of the year, with maximum temperatures reaching a sweltering 50C in some interior areas, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
As September approaches, hot days are expected but they are not expected to be as punishing as in the previous two months. Temperatures could soar to up to the mid-40s, and gradually lower by September.
The mercury is no longer expected to rise steadily, but will begin to gradually drop over the next four months.
On Friday, Sweihan recorded a maximum temperature of 48.5C at 3.45pm, followed by Qasyoura with 48C at 3pm.
Forecasters said maximum temperatures yesterday and today will range between 43C and 45C in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
Fujairah will see more favourable weather, with maximum temperatures of between 35C to 37C on the same days, with chances of clouds in the area extending to the mountains.
Light to moderate winds in general could kick up dust over exposed areas.
Motorists have been advised to drive with caution today evening and in the early morning, as relative humidity will increase over some coastal and internal areas. This could lead to mist or fog formation, especially westward.
Meanwhile, those who wish to hit the beach before the end of the Eid break may do so as the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will see slight to moderate waves.
