Dubai: Motorists faced major delays late afternoon on Sunday as major accidents affected several popular routes used by commuters.

Long tailbacks were reported from around 4pm, as Dubai police reported a major accident on Sharjah-bound lane of Emirates Road before Khawaneej.

Earlier, heavy traffic congestion was also reported on Al Khail Road towards the Business Bay crossing due to an accident.

These two road jams cleared relatively quickly, though other roads saw bumper-to-bumper traffic.

As of 6.05 pm, the main Al Ittihad Road that connects Dubai and Sharjah was still chock-a-block with traffic.
