Dubai: A technical glitch hit the Dubai Metro on Monday, affecting the train services for more than an hour on the Red Line.

Though, the exact cause of the disruption that took place around noon, was not known, but the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that there was a technical issue facing the Red Line.

The glitch affected train services between Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank station (Karama) and Burj Khalifa Station on both sides, forcing the RTA to deploy shuttle buses to serve the passengers along the stretch.

“RTA announces disruption of the metro service on the red line between Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank Station and Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station in both directions due to a technical glitch; which the team is working to fix,” RTA tweeted on its official Twitter handle.

The normal services on the Red Line were restored around 2.30pm.
