Dubai: Authorities warned drivers to take extra caution on the roads due to a high number of traffic accidents caused by Tuesday’s rain.

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, in addition to Dubai Police, urged motorists to not to speed during heavy rainfall and not to hit the brakes in water.

Commuters travelling from Sharjah to Dubai faced heavy delays due to the unstable weather, with multiple accidents recorded within the two emirates.

Traffic barely moved on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road due to an accident near Mirdif City Centre, which was further affected by rubberneckers.

Heavy tailbacks were also reported near the Arabian Ranches, on Shaikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi, from Internet City into Al Barsha, and along E611 from Maleha Road heading to Dubai.
