Dubai: A number of road accidents slowed rush hour traffic to a crawl across the emirate, particularly on at least two major thoroughfares, on Thursday morning.

One vehicular accident occurred before 8am on Shaikh Zayed Road, causing traffic jams between the 7th bridge and 8th bridge toward Abu Dhabi.

“Kindly take caution and use alternative routes,”  advised the Dubai Police through social media.

Commuters were also met with delays along Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road, particularly after the first bridge toward Sharjah, due to multiple vehicle traffic accidents in the area.

As of 9.12am, traffic snags hit other busy thoroughfares in Dubai, including the Abu-Dhabi bound lane of Shaikh Zayed Road near the Business Bay Metro Station.

Slow moving traffic was reported in some parts of Business Bay near Executive Towers and in Downtown Dubai, particularly near Emaar Square, Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa and areas near Dubai World Trade Centre and Zabeel Park.

No injuries were reported so far in any of the accidents.
