Dubai: People of determination will now get free taxi rides for the rest of this year as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launches ‘Al Khair Ride’ initiative.

RTA’s Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) recently launched the ‘Al Khair Ride’ in cooperation with Al Futtaim Motors Company as part of its Year of Zayed initiative.

The initiative will see DTC offering people with special needs free rides throughout 2018 on board equipped with added technologies, safety and privacy.

“The people of determination can avail ‘Al Khair Ride’ initiative by calling 042080808 whereas the service can be availed at Dubai airports round the clock,” said Dr Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of DTC.

He added that Al Khair Ride is part of DTC’s plans to celebrate ‘Year of Zayed’.

The initiative comes in support of Dubai Government’s initiative of ‘My Community is a Home for All,’ aimed at turning Dubai into one of the world’s most disabled-friendly cities by 2020,” he said.

He said that the DTC has dedicated taxis for people of determination equipped with modern technologies of lifting wheelchairs in a safe and hassle-free manner.

“These cabs are also driven by highly trained drivers on assisting people of determination,” he added.

Yousuf Al Raeesi, CEO of Government Affairs at Al Futtaim Motors, said that the initiative is part of the efforts to reinvigorate the noble values instilled by Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the symbol of wisdom, goodness and generosity.

“It also illustrates our societal commitment towards the ‘people of determination’ to satisfy their needs, and overcome all challenges they face. The initiative also encourages benevolence and humanitarian work among public and private entities,” said Al Raeesi.
