Dubai: Commuters in Dubai were stuck in severe traffic jams on roads around Dubai during the rush hours Monday morning.

Extreme traffic was observed in several areas, including major highways near the metro stations and roads along many of the schools in the emirate.

The Abu-Dhabi bound lane of Shaikh Zayed Road, particularly near Zabeel Park, Dubai World Trade Centre and Emirates Towers Metro Station was among the worst hit.

Vehicles in Downtown Dubai, including those near Emaar Square, Burj Khalifa Metro Station, as well as the Shaikh Zayed Road first interchange and Jumeirah-bound lane of the Financial Centre Road along Dubai Mall were also stuck in traffic.

Motorists plying some areas in Karama, Satwa, Al Diyafa, Jumeirah,  Rashidiya, Muhaisnah, Al Qusais, Al Nahda, Hor Al Anz East, Al Warqa, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area were also not spared from traffic gluts.

Delays lasting for about 17 to 21 minutes were likewise experienced by drivers on Al Wahda St. Dubai-bound commuters on the busy Sharjah-Dubai Road, as well as those passing through Al Taawun, Al Nahda and Ansar Mall also experienced heavy congestion.

Traffic was slow in areas near the schools, including Dubai National School, American School of Dubai, GEM Dubai American Academy, GEMS Wellington International School among many others.
