Dubai: One of Dubai’s busiest roads was heavily stalled on Thursday as a number of accidents caused multiple car pile-ups, delaying traffic to an almost complete standstill.

The first accident was reported at 8.20am along Gardens Boulevard towards Shaikh Zayed Road, which was then followed by a multi-car traffic accident on Shaikh Zayed Road opposite the Audi Showroom, Abu Dhabi bound.

Two more accidents then happened on Shaikh Zayed Road – one after RAK Bank and the other before the ACE Hardware interchange.

Dubai Police also cautioned motorists to drive carefully after a car stopped in the middle of Al Ittihad Road, affecting traffic towards Al Garhoud Bridge.

Heavy traffic was reported along Shaikh Zayed Road on Thursday as commuters tried to make their way into work, with traffic gridlocked from exit 49 to exit 47 after Safa Park.

Two more accidents further affected commuters driving on Al Khail Road, which slowed down people heading in both directions.

More delays and traffic congestion was found in Dubai Silicone Oasis, Business Bay area, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road from Sharjah’s National Paints intersection to Mirdif City Centre, and the usual hotspots on Al Ittihad Road up to Al Mulla Plaza and reaching Shaikh Rashid Road, near Deira City Centre.
