Dubai: Dubai Police have identified 70 locations in which to place the new Rasd cameras.

Dubai Police had earlier announced that they will be installing two new types of cameras, one of which was Rasd, which will monitor roads, scan vehicle numbers and alert the police operations room and patrols if any wanted vehicle passes in the area.

The other camera called Al Mutabea will monitor roads and quickly identify any car flouting traffic rules.

On Wednesday, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, approved the final design of the Rasd cameras.

He said that the 70 locations where the Rasd cameras will be placed have been chosen with the help on the Command and Control Room of Dubai Police.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina said the cameras have the latest high-definition technology to provide high quality images. They are also equipped with 4G to instantly send the images to the operations room.

The installation of the new cameras is in line with the strategic goals of Dubai Police to reduce crime.
