Dubai: Six leading forums will be held for the first time during the 2018 World Government Summit (WGS) — Global AI (artificial intelligence) Governance, Global Dialogue for Happiness, Arab Youth, Space Settlement, Climate Change, and Sustainable Development Goals forums.
The Global AI Governance forum will discuss the evolution of artificial intelligence technology and the possibility of governing this sector to benefit from science and technology. It will also discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on governments and the redesigning of governments.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, will speak during the forum about the UAE’s progress in accomplishing remarkable achievements in advanced sciences, empowering national skills and prioritising smart cities’ plans.
Leading international scientists and experts will be hosted in this forum including Sebastian Thrun, founder and president of Udacity; Juergen Schmidhuber, chief scientist at NNaissance; Anima Anandkumar, chief scientist at Amazon Web Services; and Carol Reiley, chief scientist at Drive.ai.
More than 25 sessions will be held as part of the 2nd Global Dialogue for Happiness, focusing on sex pillars, including global experiences, policies, technology, massive data, human values, the latest discoveries in happiness science as well as inspirational stories from the world. During this forum, participants will have the opportunity to share knowledge and expertise with the aim of dedicating happiness as a sustainable approach in the government work.
Uhoud Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Quality of Life, director-general of the Prime Minister’s Office and vice-chairperson of the World Government Summit, will open the forum with a keynote speech.
The WGS will host the Space Settlement forum in partnership with Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Centre. The forum will bring together more than 200 space and technology experts, astronauts, and scientists as well as experts from the private sector and decision makers.
The forum represents a global laboratory for the future of humanity outside earth and will discuss the evolution of the world progress to explore other planets. It will also highlight the importance of holding partnerships between governments and space science institutions to support space exploration worldwide.
The WGS will also host the Climate Change forum with the aim of mobilising global efforts to strengthen cooperation between governments so that the commitment to protect the environment becomes a global priority reflecting positively on other countries of the world.
More than 100 young people from various Arab countries will participate in the Arab Youth forum, which will discuss the role of Arab youth in achieving the sustainable development goals and ways to engage them in developing future policies.
The participants will also discuses cooperation mechanisms for wider and more effective participation in shaping the future of the region and contributing pragmatically to the implementation of sustainable development goals.
Themed as “Partnerships that support innovation to build a better future”, the 3rd Sustainable Development Goals forum will discuss the latest international developments in order to achieve the goals.
More than 300 government officials and global experts from the United Nations, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), international institutions and companies as well as academic institutions will participate in this forum.
The forum will focus on solutions made available by scientific discoveries and technological innovations to achieve sustainable development goals. This year’s forum is characterised by a wide participation of Emirati youth who are committed to harnessing their skills to contribute to sustainable development in line with the wise leadership’s vision to invest in the Fourth Industrial Revolution tools to serve the sustainability of material, human and environmental resources.
