Dubai:

Dubai police are joining other authorities to build sport fields in labour accommodations by the end of June this year. Speaking to Gulf News on Tuesday, Brigadier Ahmad Thani Bin Galitha, director of Rafaa police station, said they are working on initiatives to help the workers engage in social activities to fill their spare time.

“Dubai police will build sport fields for workers in their labour accommodations by the end of June this year. Other initiatives will be introduced to workers to increase the positive energy and happiness,” Brig Bin Galitha said.

He pointed out that they are working with Dubai Municipality to open organised markets and grocery shops for the workers in their accommodations rather than the random markets and shops. The initiatives will be in labour accommodations at International City, Muhaisnah, Al Quoz, Al Awir and Jebel Ali.

“We want to stop the random markets and illegally selling alcohol in labour accommodations. We will install smart cameras in the future in the accommodations to monitor any suspicious or criminal behaviour,” Brig Bin Galitha added.
