Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the release of 547 prisoners on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Essam Eisa Al Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai, said that Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid’s decision to pardon the inmates is aimed at offering them a fresh start in life and easing their families’ suffering, as well as helping the prisoners reintegrate into the community.

Al Humaidan added that this gesture will have a positive impact on the community by giving the prisoners a chance to rejoin their families and start a new chapter in their lives.

The attorney general also said that Dubai Public Prosecution has commenced the legal procedures for implementing Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid’s order, which is being carried out in collaboration with Dubai Police.

In Ajman, His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, ordered the release of 90 prisoners. The move will see the release of the prisoners, serving various sentences, from a number of punitive and reformative institutions in Ajman. The prisoners are selected based on good conduct and other factors that make them eligible for release.

In Ras Al Khaimah, His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, ordered the release of 272 prisoners. Shaikh Saud will also cover the fines imposed on them.
