Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday received Yang Jiechi, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Special Representative, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, at Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the Chinese President’s Special representative, while expressing his happiness at exchanging visits between the two countries which would contribute to enhancing cooperation in the best interest of the two countries.

Jiechi conveyed the greetings of the Chinese President to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well as his wishes of more progress and prosperity to the Emirati people.

In turn, Shaikh Mohammad asked President Xi Jinping’s Special Representative to reciprocate the regards of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa and his greetings to President of China and their wishes of continuous development to the Chinese people.

Shaikh Mohammad and Jiechi discussed ways to develop co-operation in various investment, economic, scientific, technological, and cultural fields.

They also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.

Shaikh Mohammad emphasised the desire of the UAE led by Shaikh Khalifa to boost ties with China in various domains.

Jiechi expressed his country’s pursuance to expand ties with the UAE in the investment, economic and scientific fields, as the country is deemed as a vital economic, financial and cultural centre in the region and the world.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides highlighted the strong strategic ties between the UAE and China in a number of co-operation fields in the light of the keenness of the leaderships of the two countries to develop them, which would contribute to achieving the two sides’ aspirations.

Dr. Anwar Bin Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Mohammad Bin Ahmad Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak; Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, and Ali Bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security, attended the meeting.
