Abu Dhabi: A number of UAE Ambassadors to friendly countries were sworn in on Sunday before His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Present during the ceremony were Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

The UAE ambassadors are Eisa Salem Al Daheri to Afghanistan, Rashid Mohammad Al Mansouri to Tunisia, Khalifa Abdul Rahman Al Marzouqi to Tanzania, Salem Rashid Al Owais to Colombia, Dr Nawal Khalifa Al Hosani, Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Juma Rashid Khamis Al Rumaithi to Costa Rica.

Shaikh Mohammad told the ambassadors to assume their national responsibility towards their leadership and peoples at the highest level and to fulfil their duties efficiently, and also to establish positive relations with officials and specialised bodies in the countries that they are based in in order to utilise these relations to serve the higher national interests of the UAE and its people.

Shaikh Mohammad also received the credentials of several foreign ambassadors to the UAE, including Brunei, Ghana, Bahrain, Chad, Serbia, Greece, South Africa, Gambia and the UK.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the new ambassadors and assured them of the cooperation of concerned authorities in the country to perform their duties to the fullest extent in the best interest of the UAE and their countries and peoples.

In their address to Shaikh Mohammad, the ambassadors conveyed their greetings and well wishes to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They also expressed their happiness at representing their countries in the UAE, which has a prominent international reputation, and its community, leadership and government are known for their cooperation, respect for others and for creating balanced and constructive relations with other countries.

Also present were Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, and a number of ministers and senior officials.
