Area 2071 is an open lab that embodies the UAE’s efforts to become the primary driving force for shaping the future, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad made the remarks yesterday (Tuesday) as he inaugurated Area 2071 at Emirates Towers.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, was present.

Shaikh Mohammad said that Area 2071 is an open lab for learning, as well as developing ideas and experiences, shaping the future and experimenting with solutions that can forge a better future for humanity. He urged public and private sector bodies to utilise facilities offered by Area 2071, which acts as an umbrella that brings together efforts and initiatives for the future, such as the government accelerators, Dubai Future Accelerators and the Youth Centre.

“Area 2071 is an interactive platform that brings together creative minds and embodies the partnership between the public and private sectors and innovators to develop solutions for major challenges, implement and utilise ideas to serve humanity and shaping a future that ensures the best quality of life for coming generations,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

Following the inauguration, Shaikh Mohammad viewed a presentation that highlighted Dubai Future Foundation’s achievements, projects and 15 initiatives during the two years of its establishment.

Among those initiatives is Dubai 10X, which aims to reshape the duties and roles of government bodies and authorities and experiment with future government models that will allow Dubai to be 10 years ahead of other cities around the world.

Shaikh Mohammad was then briefed on developments concerning Dubai’s Future Accelerators Programme, which focuses on linking the largest global innovation companies with government institutions operating in vital sectors. The programme will help conceive creative solutions for opportunities and urgent challenges.

The Vice-President also acquainted himself with Dubai’s 3D Printing Strategy, that aims to boost Dubai’s position as a leading global hub for 3D printing.

The Dubai Future Foundation gave a presentation on other initiatives as well, such as the Office of the Future, which is the first building around the world that was built using 3D printing technology, Dubai’s Autonomous Transportation Strategy, the Global Blockchain Council initiative, UAE AI and Robotics Award for Good, among others.

Present were Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, and other officials.
