Dubai: The final weigh-in for the participants of “Your Weight in Gold” campaign continued at five locations — Safa Park, Zabeel Park, Mamzar track, Khawaneej Park and Al Barsha Park.

The weigh-in started on August 31 and continued until September 3.

“We are extremely thankful to the participants who are taking this health move to wider meanings,” said Mohammad Al Noori, director of the corporate marketing and relations department at the civic body.

He said Dubai Municipality views Dubai people’s health as being more valuable than gold.

He thanked the organisations that are supporting the move such as Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), Dubai Health Authority VLCC, Dr Nutrition, Gold’s Gym, Dr Inas Nutrition Centre, Sultan Al Olama Medical Centre, Aster Group, Fitness First, The Right Bite Nutrition, Cambridge weight plan, Quest Health Care, Cell RESEST Programme, Health Factory and Canadian Hospital.

While commenting on the successful organisation of the campaign, Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC, said: “DMCC strongly believes that an active lifestyle means a better quality of life. Our contribution of Dh100,000 worth of gold coins has motivated hundreds of individuals from all backgrounds and age groups to take part in the ‘Your Weight in Gold’ initiative. We hope everyone will continue to adopt a healthier way of life following the competition. We will certainly continue to support initiatives like these to encourage the UAE to stay healthy.”

All the weigh-in sites are witnessing huge numbers of people queuing up for their turn to be weighed. It was reported that many participants had successfully reduced their weight according to the health instructions given to them earlier.

Participants were reported to be grateful to the civic body for promoting a safe and healthy way to lose weight and were excited to find out how much gold they would gain once the campaign is over.

It is learnt that once the ongoing calculation is done, Dubai Municipality will announce the winners as well as how much gold each can bag as a reward for the competition.
