The General Secretariat of the Arab Journalism Awards (AJA) today announced it has entered into an agreement with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation to honour the ‘Media Personality of the Year' award, for outstanding contribution to the print media.

As per the agreement, the Foundation is committed to publishing a book as an added incentive to the winner, to provide a wider exposure of the journalist's literary thought process and perspective.

The seventh edition of the Arab Journalism Awards will give away cash prizes up to Dh863,000 ($235,000) for best entries in politics, business, investigative journalism, IT, culture, sports, environment, photo-journalism, columns, caricature, interview and children's journalism. Winners in each category will be announced on 24 April.

"The cooperation between the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and the Arab Journalism Award reflects the Foundation's keenness to encourage the Arab thought and appropriately celebrate its remarkable figures who have enriched Arab thought and culture," said Yasser Saeed Hareb, the Foundation's Vice President for Culture.

Maryam Bin Fahd, Executive Director of the Arab Journalism Award, said that such a generous initiative will support and promote the award giving the winner an unprecedented chance to publish his/her work.
