Government buildings and federal premises, banks and major streets and roundabouts in Fujairah are being decorated for Eid Al Fitr and the UAE National Day celebrations.

Fujairah Municipality, as well as all other local government departments, will all have a role in the celebrations. Fujairah Municipality, as usual, arranged a special programme for the public and visitors are expected to throng Fujairah in large numbers.

"A special music festival is being arranged by the Fujairah Municipality at Madhab Park, at the square in front of the Madhab Palace and at Fujairah Corniche. The programme will include daily cultural and folkloric shows by dancers and singers from Arab countries," said a source from Fujairah Municipality.

Squads of workers from the municipality have begun maintaining the major streets and roads leading to Al Eid Mussallah and areas around the residential complexes.

The workers also are cleaning up the main parks as well as tourist and archaeological sites which are expected to be crowded with visitors.

"A team of veterinarians from the municipality were sent to the Fujairah livestock market under the supervision of the Public Health Department to check sheep and other cattle which are being sold to the public during Ramadan and Eid events," the source added.

He pointed out that the vets are available all the time to examine sheep at Fujairah's Abattoir to ensure safety and fitness for human consumption.

In the meantime, huge quantities of vegetables and fruits are being supplied to the markets as the demand increases during Eid, the source said.

"Our health inspectors are already visiting the local food market to ensure that products meet hygienic standards," he added. Firefighters at the Fujairah Civil Defence Department have been given orders to be available and be put on alert during the Eid Al Fitr holidays.

"As people used to gather in large numbers at certain places during Eid holidays, we'll send a special team of Civil Defence men to check the fire fighting equipment and other safety and security measures at these places," said another source from the Fujairah Civil Defence Department.
