Four men linked to a prostitution ring are facing charges before the Dubai Criminal Court for allegedly attempting to bring 72 fake iris scan stamps into the country.
Two defendants, M.A., 20, a Moldovan, and A.K., 34, a Russian, were brought to court while the two other co-accused are still at large.

The public prosecution accused M.A. of trying to smuggle 72 fake iris stamps into the country with the help of a third defendant, who is still at large.

The third and fourth defendants were not named in the charge sheet.

Iris scan stamps are the paper version of the actual iris scans. The UAE uses iris scans extensively for identification purposes at major ports of entry into the country.

A.K. faces charges of assisting the fourth defendant, who is also the father of M.A., in running a brothel and bringing young girls on fake visas to work for them.

M.O.M., Staff Sergeant stationed at the Dubai International Airport, testified that the fourth defendant has offered him a Dh2,000 bribe in return for receiving the fake iris stamps from her son, M.A.

Copies of official documents from the home countries of the defendants as well as fake documents were also confiscated from the defendants.

The next hearing will be held in July.
