A non-existent hospital, claiming to be located in Al Ain, is offering jobs across the globe.

Called General Dubai Hospital, individuals behind this fraud scheme have put up a website — www.generalhospitaldubai.org — providing detailed information about the hospital.

But in doing so, they have duplicated the Web information, including the post box number, of a genuine private hospital in Al Ain, Oasis Hospital.

An official at Oasis Hospital said they were aware of the fraudulent website.

"We came to know of it a month back when we started receiving calls from people. We have reported the case to the police and the CID department."

The hospital has posted a warning on its website.

The fraudulent website is almost an exact copy of Oasis Hospital's online site but with a different set of contact details.

The telephone and fax numbers are in mobile format – and were switched off when XPRESS tried to contact them. The con artists left the post box number of Oasis Hospital unchanged.

Other notable changes from the original involved those where the real name of the hospital in the content has been replaced by ‘General Dubai Hospital'.

The fictional hospital is not only offering job openings but is also sending out offer letters.

Dr Tony H., an Indian doctor in Saudi Arabia, received one such offer letter in August from Gen-eral Dubai Hospital, but he said the offer was too good to be true.

"I was offered a salary of nearly $10,000 [Dh36,700] per month, a five-room flat in Dubai, and a 2006 model Camry, among others.

"But the most incredulous part was that the letter said there would be only five working hours in a day. That's just not practical and I felt it had to be a hoax."

To confirm his suspicion, Dr Tony went to the website of General Hospital Dubai as mentioned on the offer letter and found that the board in front of the picture of the hospital read as National Hospital Dubai and not General Hospital Dubai.

The offer letter sent to Dr Tony said new recruits would have to bear the cost of clearing papers and permits through a "Dubai Travelling Agency", but promised they would be reimbursed later.

When XPRESS called up the travel agency, the line was constantly busy.

Your comments

I am a healthcare manager and received an offer of $9500 per month, a five bedroom flat, five working hours daily and a Toyota Camry. I knew that it was too good to be true but even so I have sent them all the necessary papers and when they asked me to send $810 for a visa, I asked them why they didn’t pay for an agency in Dubai?

They replied that this is the procedure and I replied that I wouldn’t pay for someone that I don’t know and for a service that I haven’t yet received. Then they insisted, but thank Allah that it didn’t work with me.

They are professional and know exactly what they are doing. Thanks also to Monster Gulf who over a month ago sent me an e-mail warning me that such a thing might happen.

As a warning to others I have sent them everything that I have from those thieves to warn others. Such people should be found and put in jail for their actions.

Well, I have nothing to say but thanks to XPRESS. But still I was disappointed. I received the same mail as others and I though opportunity knocks. Well I guess that’s what life is.

I have also received the offer letter from Oceanbase Recruitment for employment in Land and Sea Populus International (LSPI). I visited the LSPI website and that looked thoroughly unprofessional that made me suspicious. I started to look around on net for details of Oceanbase Recruitment and found your site reporting it to be scam. Everyone must be warned and Monster Gulf must be reported for this.

Well I received exactly the same proposal as Mr Paul from Ajman, with a similar but different email address (oceanbasedubai2@gmail.com) but it was also ‘signed’ by Alhaji Abubakar Abbah! Thank you for your help to avoid this trap!

I too received such an offer from General Hospital Dubai with a great offer and I was so happy to read that. But after going through this publication I am very disappointed. They are really playing with everyone’s feelings, hopes and the dreams they have for the growth of their career. I have already replied to the mail I received from them. I thank Allah for opening my eyes. But the government of Dubai should take strict action against such fake offerings. thank you Allah Hafiz.

After I received the fake e-mail below, I decided to make a joke with them as well. Thanks to XPRESS newspaper which released the news on same day!! I believe that there are a lot of people receiving these kind of fake job offers. It feels really bad to be one of them. Why are those people so interested in playing with the minds of others? Just for fun? Now I am a bit scared to put my information in any kind of job search on the internet!

I had fun with my reply letter and a good laugh when I was writing it: Dear Mr Abubakar Abbah, I would love to send as fast as possible all my information, but I still have some issues. I will accept if the following are included in my contract: One Ferrari or Aston Martin 2007 with all accessories included. Change of car every six months because I can get bored to drive an old one! One return ticket for my family to go on a vacation anywhere of my choice. One yacht always ready to make tours with me and all my friends (capacity of minimum 50 persons). The duplex must also be in the Burj Dubai. If this is an acceptable offer, I can think about sending you more information. Kindest Regards Dr .....

I received the same offer they did. I was so amazed with the offer and could not believe it really existed so I tried to call the said numbers they gave but to no avail - I couldn't call them! So I kept trying to search on the net if this is true or just a scam - thanks! I just found out it is really a scam. So to everybody... don't get fooled easily, try to check first before grabbing these opportunities. Anyway just have fun with those scumbags. Thank you!

This is an absolutely fraud and scam. The Dubai Government should take immediate action to stop all those people running this scam. I knew from the very beginning that this was a fraud because the offer's really unbelievable and exaggerated. I know that even established healthcare institutions would not offer that, especially for a lower-ranking post.

I am a pharmacist and I am also still getting the same offer from Dubai General Hospital. Thanks to XPRESS for opening my eyes, I am thankful to Allah, alhumdulilah, who saved me from this fraud. I received mail from this fraudster just six days back. Once again I thank you all.

I also received a vacant post in Dubai General Hospital. I applied and they sent me a an online questionnaire. After a few days I was sent a letter of appointment/ contract agreement. The offer is very good but I’m suspicious of it. I’m still verifying the said offer before I will commit and searching for truth. I will forward to you the copy of their contract.

Alhumdulilah that I discovered that trick before sending anything to this General Hospital Dubai. They sent me an offer letter too with a $9,500 monthly salary and five-room flat but I suspected this offer because it exceeds my experience. I have been to UAE before and I know the salary ranges so I needed a proof and I discovered that IT IS A BIG LIE...

Hello, I too received a job offer from General Hospital Dubai but after reading the details on your site I am amazed. Is there any hope of landing an authentic job online? With so much fraud going on, I don't think so any more. Anyway it was a good laugh though!

The same group offered me jobs from Benin Republic but the salary they are offering and the facilities they are providing gave me the suspicion of fraud, along with the charges they are demanding for visa and work permit. In this whole scenario my opinion is that Monster Gulf is involved.

I received a similar job offer through monster.com, from where this person took my details and promised a similar job in the said hospital for the job of legal adviser. The authorities should take action against such a person for cheating people around the world.
