Dubai: The Chevrolet Bolt EV is the latest electric vehicle to join the Dubai Police fleet for road patrols.

Eight of these cars will join the police force’s impressive line-up of hybrid and electric vehicles.

Brigadier Dr. Mohammad Nasser Al Razooqi, Director of Transport and Rescue Department at the Dubai Police, praised the partnership with Chevrolet.

“It is part of our ongoing commitment to better serve the citizens and residents of Dubai, while also leading the way in Dubai’s green initiative. The addition of eight Chevrolet Bolt EV cars to our Dubai Police electric fleet will make a big impact in our mission to raise awareness about the benefits of conservation within the emirate,” Brig Al Razooqi said.

The Chevrolet Bolt EV offers long-range mileage of up to 520 kilometres on a single charge — unprecedented in its segment.

The vehicle joins the growing Dubai police fleet, along with supercars such as McLaren, Bugatti Veyron and Aston Martin, as well as Nissan GTR vehicles.

John Roth, president and managing director of General Motors Africa and Middle East, said: “We are proud to support the Dubai government in its vision to make it a greener city. The Dubai Green Mobility Initiative has set some ambitious targets, including a 10 per cent penetration of alternate propulsion vehicles in government fleets by 2020. The Chevrolet Bolt EV will form the backbone of these fleets, starting with the world-famous Dubai Police fleet.”
