Abu Dhabi: The First Regional Biodiversity Forum in the Gulf will be held in the capital from May 7 to 9, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) said in a press release on Wednesday.
The EAD, in cooperation with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) - Regional Office for West Asia (ROWA), will host the forum under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and chairman of EAD.
Experts and researchers in the field of biodiversity from the region and around the world will attend the forum. They will discuss the progress towards the implementation of the National Strategies of NBSAPs (National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plans) related to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). They will also present initiatives on biodiversity conservation in the UAE and the Arab region and exchange expertise and encourage cooperation in the biodiversity field.
