Dubai: Dubai Police honoured a woman for reporting a brawl by calling 999, leading to the arrest of people involved, police said on Monday.

Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs of Dubai Police, honoured Rania Mukram Kanawi, for informing police about the incident at Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR).

“Her call helped the police quickly respond to the incident and arrest individuals in the fight and take legal action against them. Her effort helped to spread security and enhance safety in the area,” Maj Gen Al Mansouri said.

She was honoured with a certificate and a token of appreciation in the presence of other police officers at Dubai Police headquarters.

“The public are our partners in securing the city,” Maj Gen Al Mansouri said.

Kanawi, thanked Dubai Police for their gesture saying that it was her duty in the society to help police by alerting them to any problems.

Dubai Police urged the public to contact 999 for emergency situations and 901 for non-emergency incidents.
