Dubai: Pupils attending a kindergarten were rescued on Monday morning after a fire broke out in the school’s theatre.

The UAE's Ministry of Education also took to social media to confirm that all 176 children were rescued from Al Worood kindergarten, located in the Dahan district.

In a tweet, the ministry said: “The Ministry of Education confirms the safety of our students at Worood Kindergarten in Ras Al Khaimah after a fire broke out in its theatre.”

A team of Civil Defence were immediately dispatched to put out the flames as swiftly as possible.

“Civil defence teams dealt with the fire very quickly and controlled it in record time. The evacuation of kindergarten students was the first action taken, and to ensure the safety of all students and staff,” said Col. Ali Al Mahbubi, deputy director of Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence.

Col. Al Mahbubi confirmed that 176 pupils, 20 staff members, five cleaners and two security guards were safely evacuated from a kindergarten on Monday morning.

No injuries were reported.

“The fire was extinguished with water and foam, while a machine was used to remove the smoke without causing any harm to those involved,” said the Civil Defence.
