It was the first known fatal accident on Dubai's Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ) Road following the reduction of the speed limit from 120kph to 110kph on October 15.

In another accident on Friday, an Asian truck driver escaped death on Jebel Ali road on the way to Al Maktoum International Airport roundabout when he lost control of the truck and the vehicle flipped over and caught fire.

The driver survived death when he managed to step out the truck before it went up in flames.

Just a few hours after the lower speed limit kicked in last October 15, a woman was seriously injured when a Jeep she was driving crashed into the back of a truck that stopped on the roadside on MBZ Road.
