Dubai: Firefighters in Abu Dhabi rescued nine people from a fire that broke out on the 14th floor of a hotel.

According to Abu Dhabi Police, the operations room received a distressed call at 11am on Monday from the hotel.

A team of police, civil defence and ambulances were immediately dispatched, and six people were transferred to hospital for minor injuries.

Officials have declined to reveal the name of the hotel, or any other details and information about the hotel in question.

 

Brigadier Mohammed Maiouf Al Kitbi, Director General of the General Department of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi, said: “The fire was limited to the living room and the corridor of the bedroom. Firefighters controlled the fire and prevented it from spreading to other rooms, which in turn saved the lives of many residents.”

He added that investigations are still underway to find out the circumstances behind the cause of the fire.
