Dubai: In another unique initiative, Dubai Police said it will offer free quality education at a modern school to children of its employees.
Dubai Police in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), will open the new school called “Hemaya” by next week in Karama area.
“This initiative came to ease the lives of Dubai Police employees and to make them happy and satisfied at their workplace, We will provide free education for their children following directives by our leaders to enhance job satisfaction level for employees,” Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police, said.
Employees and policemen can enrol two children in the school which will offer classes from KG1 to Grade 8 initially.
“It is a start of a project as we will set up more schools with more classes in the future,” he added.
The school will have the government curriculum and the police employees can register their children online through Dubai Police portal. The school will have a capacity of 1,400 students.
Policemen from warrant officer Class 1 and below and civilian employees can apply to enrol their children in the school. About 1,007 students have already been registered at the school until last Saturday including 522 boys and 485 girls.
Maj Gen Al Merri said the initiative will help employees be comfortable about their children getting education in quality schools. “We studied many suggestions to solve their problem and we adopted the project of having a school for their children. All expenses including uniforms and schoolbags will be paid by Dubai Police and education will be free for all students,” Maj Gen Al Merri said.
About 21,000 people applied to work in the new school and Dubai Police recruited administration staff and teachers in coordination with the Ministry of Education and the KHDA.
Meanwhile, Major General Mohammad Ahmad Bin Fahd, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Academic and Training Affairs, praised the initiative saying that they only started a month ago to finalise arrangements for the school.
“It was an innovative idea by the commander-in-chief to have a school for children of the employees and policemen. Dubai Police employees and policemen will enjoy peace of mind knowing their children will get quality education,” Maj Gen Bin Fahad said.
Brigadier Ahmad Rafee, Director of Human Resources Department in Dubai Police, said that they work to raise the bar for the lives of the employees and their families by providing best health care and humanitarian service and now education for their children.
“The school will make our employees happier and will help them focus on work in Dubai Police more and double the productivity. Hemaya school will be a modern example for schools in the future,” Brigadier Rafee said.
Brigadier Eid Thani Bin Hareb, director of Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police, said that they will add some classes to raise awareness among Hemaya students about the danger of drugs and some crimes.
“We will have awareness classes about the danger of some crimes like drugs and electronic crimes too,” Brigadier Hareb added.
