Ajman, UAE: An Asian maid was arrested at Dubai International airport within 90 minutes after she stole cash and valuables from her Emirati employer’s house  in Ajman, police said on Sunday.

The maid ran away with Dh27,000 and jewellery in addition to electronic devices.

Major Ahmad Saeed Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police, said the Emirati employer, who wsa only identified by the initials A.M.K., said his maid opened a safe and stole the cash and jewellery, an iPad, and her (maid's) passport before leaving the house.

The police received information that the maid was at Dubai International Airport as she was planning to leave the country with the stolen items.

The maid, identified as M.A.K., was arrested in coordination with the Dubai Police.

She confessed to her crime.

The case was referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.

Maj. Al Nuaimi urged all community members to be cautious with valuables.
