Dubai: A mother of two has been accused of having sex outside wedlock with a man she alleged was her husband, and forging marriage papers to get bail.

The Uzbek mother, 31, walked into a police station in June 2018 and surrendered herself after alleging that she delivered an illegitimate baby boy in 2016 and that she could not get the official birth certificate and papers issued for him.

When interrogated by the police, the woman claimed that she had also gave birth to a baby girl in 2015, from a man she claimed was her husband. She said she was married to the Uzbek man, who lived and worked in Dubai, before he divorced her verbally and kicked her out in 2016.

Records said the woman was apprehended in 2015 for having the baby girl out of wedlock, before the Uzbek “husband” provided the authorities a marriage contract in order to bail her out.

Prosecutors accused the woman of having sex outside wedlock with a stranger, using forged marriage papers, entering the country illegally and re-entering the UAE after having been deported in 2011.

Jail wardens did not bring the woman from her detention to present her in the Dubai Court of First Instance, where she was scheduled to enter her plea on Sunday.

Sordid story

In June 2018, the mother of the two-year-old boy and three-year-old girl surrendered herself to the police. She told the cops that she came to Dubai on a visit visa for the first time in 2011. Her visa later expired and she returned to her country after an arrest warrant was issued against her.

The suspect said she also returned to the UAE, entering through Oman, and stayed with the man she claimed was her husband. She later had the two children fathered by him, before he later verbally divorced her and threw her out of the house.

According to records, the woman remains in prison with her children, saying that she was unaware that her marriage contract was forged.

The trial continues.
