Riyadh: The Saudi-led military coalition fighting to restore Yemen’s internationally-recognised government accused Iran-backed rebels of delaying vital food and other imports through a major Red Sea port.
“Al Houthi militiamen, who control the port of Hodeida, continue to hinder the unloading of commercial cargo ships loaded with essential goods, food and humanitarian aid for the Yemeni people,” a coalition spokesman said.
Fifteen cargo ships carrying food and fuel and authorised by the coalition to enter the port were still waiting to dock, he said, accusing Al Houthis of “violating all international principles and regulations”.
The United Nations has called for easier access to Yemeni ports to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
