Dubai Residents took advantage of the hot and hazy weather over the weekend by splashing in the beach and basking under the sun.

This kind of weather, a forecaster said, is likely to continue across the country throughout the week.

Weather in the UAE will remain fair in general with hot and hazy conditions during daytime, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.

The temperature on the western coast and islands will be 39 degrees Celsius while the northern coast and internal areas will be 46C. The mountainous areas are pegged at 45C.

Poor level

"It will be hot and hazy for the coming week, no serious changes are expected," a weather forecaster said.

Although temperatures could drop tomorrow, humidity is expected to increase. The human comfort index is therefore expected to remain at a poor level.

"We do expect some slight drop in temperature tomorrow, maybe 2C to 3C along coastal areas, but moisture will increase so there will be no significant change — it will still feel hot," the weather forecaster said.

The maximum average temperature for the month is between 31C and 39C.

While forecasters said temperatures could reach 48C by the month's end, this still does not compare with the highest recorded temperature for the month of May in 2001 in Asab where the temperature rose to as high as 52C.

Partly cloudy

Generally, it will be partly cloudy throughout the day with light to moderate winds in general, freshening at times. This may cause dust to blow over parts of the western area.

Waves will be light to moderate in general over the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

Those who plan to engage in outdoor activities, are advised to take precautionary measures such as applying sunscreen lotion and drinking water regularly to avoid dehydration.
