Arabic children's books are slowly becoming popular with parents and school teachers
Sharjah: Kalimat Publishing House and du, the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, Thursday announced their partnership in a bid to promote Arabic literacy among children.
"Arabic children's books are slowly becoming popular with parents and school teachers, so through our partnership with du we will be able to host a number of activities in schools to further promote Arabic literacy," said Shaikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Chief Executive of Kalimat.
The partnership will support several locally based events, including book readings and signings by authors, illustrators' workshops, and participation in local book fairs, among others. These activities will take place until August 2011.
Shaikha Bodour pointed out that Kalimat also launched a new children's book yesterday to mark the occasion of the UAE's National Day.
