Abu Dhabi Residents can now collect birth certificates from public health care facilities without needing to visit the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the HAAD announced in a statement Thursday.

In the Western region, birth certificates will be available at TAMM government service centres, the statement added.

The announcement follows the introduction of a new e-birth certificate system, which allows public hospitals to issue birth certificates on location and electronically links TAMM centres with the HAAD.

"With the introduction of the new e-birth certificate system, residents will no longer have to visit the HAAD to receive a birth certificate for their newborn. Instead, the new system will improve the birth certificate issuance process and help save time," said Dr Jamal Al Mutawa, manager of external services at the HAAD.

The system has already been implemented in five public hospitals in the capital city and Al Ain, including the Corniche Hospital, Al Rahba Hospital, Al Mafraq Hospital, Tawam Hospital and Al Ain Hospital. In addition, all TAMM service centres across the Western Region, including those in Sila, Ghayathi, Liwa, Al Marfa, Madinat Zayed and Dalma, have also implemented the system.

Requirements

The documents required to apply for a birth certificate include the original hospital birth notification, family book for Emiratis, parents' original passports, parents' marriage certificate, and Emirates ID, if available.
