Abu Dhabi: The ministries of Justice and Interior have resolved the issue of mistaken identity once and for all so that travel bans may not be imposed or entered into the electronic tracking systems at police stations and checkpoints unless a warrant is attached with a copy of the passport or ID card of the person on the travel ban list, Dr Hadef Bin Jua'an Al Daheri, Minister of Justice, told the Federal National Council yesterday.

The minister was responding in writing to Mosabah Balajeed Al Katbi, a representative from Sharjah, who put a question to Al Daheri concerning the temporary travel ban imposed on certain people for mistaken identity.

While thanking the minister for his letter, Al Katbi insisted that Dr Al Daheri show up in person to answer his question on a later date.

"The minister's letter fell short of answering my question," Al Katbi said. The representative told Gulf News that innocent people were mistaken for others on the travel ban list and subsequently, they were denied boarding and missed flights.
