Less injuries and deaths reported than same period last year
Dubai: The Dubai Police Rescue Department executed 12,329 rescue missions during the first half of 2012.
Major Ahmad Atiq Bu Ruqaiba, Deputy Director of the Rescue Department, confirmed these included 68 land rescues, of which 35 involved individuals sustaining minor injuries, 46 medium with injuries and 42 who were seriously injured.
Of the cases attended, 9 resulted in deaths.
These figures show a significant decrease from last year’s numbers in the same period.
The Deputy Director said that last year there were 83 land accidents that resulted in 46 minor injuries, 54 medium and 35 severely injured people with 16 deaths.
At the marine rescue departmemt, there were 192 marine missions for the first half of this year, Bu Ruqaiba said.
29 were accidents that resulted in 29 injuries and one death, while last year there were 68 accidents resulting in 61 injured and four deaths.
