Military education to be introduced at Dubai Police Academy soon
Dubai A national military education programme will be introduced to students of the Dubai Police Academy from the next academic semester, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief, has said.
Lt Gen Dahi said he will deliver lectures to the students in civics to teach them about loyalty to their nation. "I was waiting for academics to offer this programme, but since that never happened, I took it upon myself to do it," Lt Gen Dahi said. The Dubai Police Chief recently raised concerns that there were attempts to promote Muslim Brotherhood ideologies in GCC countries, but introducing civics to students does not come as a response to external risks or attempts of penetration by foreign ideas.

Lt Gen Dahi was speaking on the sidelines of opening the Hamdan Bin Mohammad e-University's booth at KidZania in the Dubai Mall on Thursday.
Commenting on opening a booth in a children's play establishment, Lt Gen Dahi, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University, said electronic education is like a train that you catch at any station.
"People of any age can pursue their studies, but education received at a young age is carved in stone," he said.
"Students have the chance to study at any time and can read lectures as many times as they wish, whereas in ordinary universities if they miss a lecture they cannot attend it again," he said.
"This does not mean that electronic universities are selling degrees because the exams are very tough and students need to work hard to pass and will not be allowed to cheat," he said.
