Dubai: Filipino Grade 3 student Emmanuelle Coleen Landayan became the happiest girl in Dubai after she learnt that she scored the highest in Science.

Landayan bested other students in the Middle East and was given an International Benchmark Test Award for Excellence in Science by the Australian Council for Educational Research (Acer).

Landayan was awarded a plaque of excellence and Dh500 at a ceremony in her school, the United International Private School (UIPS).

Landayan said she made a thorough review of her books in English, Math and Science to prepare for the exam. However, she did not fail to find time to play.

"I could read fast and can comprehend what I'm reading, so I still have time to play. When I received this award, I was very happy and surprised," she said.

Landayan expressed her appreciation for the support she received from her parents, teachers and classmates.

She said, "My classmates are very cooperative and nice to me, my teachers teach us very well and my parents love me very much and do what's best for our family. They are very supportive."

UIPS Principal Lizabeth Comia commended Landayan for her outstanding achievement. Comia said, "The UIPS community is very proud to have a student like Emmanuelle Coleen. She has performed well in school and the Award of Excellence given to her by the Acer is an affirmation of this exemplary performance."
