Truck smashes two parked cars

Manama: Police in Saudi Arabia are looking for the driver of a shovel truck who smashed two cars parked in the western city of Jeddah.

The accident in Prince Fawaz neighbourhood in southern Jeddah resulted in injuries for one driver while the second one was not harmed, Saudi news site Al Marsad reported on Tuesday.

Witnesses said that the driver was a foreigner and that he lost control over the truck, resulting in the accident.

Online users said that the authorities should take measures that would deter reckless drivers from putting the lives of other drivers and pedestrians at risk.

“We have a serious traffic issue when even parked cars are hit, and luckily there were no fatal injuries,” one user posted. “There has to be stringent action against those who bring chaos to roads, especially in the city.”

One user, however, urged caution until the police issued its report on the accident and said that the drivers of the cars could be the ones to blame for what happened.

Another user said he hoped the company would not delay the payment for the damage to the cars, explaining that the drivers should not be punished twice, once by losing their cars and the second time, by having to rush between offices to get the money to fix the cars.
