Manama: A Saudi, believed to be the oldest man in the country, has died, his family said.

Shaikh Awadh Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saifi, 120, was born in 1893 and lived in three different centuries, the 19th, 20th and 21st, local news site Sabq reported.

He is survived by 24 sons and daughters and had 447 grandchildren and great grand-children.

His oldest son is 98 years old while the youngest is 22. His oldest grandson is 65 years old.

According to the report, Shaikh Awadh was often praised for his wisdom and dialogue skills and had a good rapport with his family and with foreigners.

“He was a much beloved person by all the people who came into contact with him throughout his life,” people said. “He was in good health and was conscious of his surroundings. He loved poetry and often linked it to major events such as the crowning of the kings who ruled the country from King Abdul Aziz to King Abdullah.” King Abdul Aziz was the founder of the modern Saudi state.
