Dubai: Qatar is doomed to fail in its attempts to strike at Saudi Arabia, Bahrain’s foreign minister has said.

“The brotherly Saudi people are an outstanding example of loyalty, fidelity and devotion to their country and leadership. They invariably stand with their brothers on every occasion. May Allah protect you and make you happy,” Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa posted on his Twitter account.

“It is clear that Qatar with its accounts and hashtags [on social media] is aiming at harming the leaders and people of Saudi Arabia. They targeted Bahrain in the past and failed and again they are bound to fail this time as well,” he said on the microblog where he has 435,000 followers.

Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt cut off their diplomatic relations with Qatar on June 5 over its support for extremists and funding of terrorism.

The four countries presented a list of 13 demands that Qatar should meet in order to resume talks and reach a settlement for the worst crisis to hit the region.

However, 100 days into the crisis, the war of words has drowned everything else as Qatar has flatly refused to address the issues and engaged in wide international public relations operations to find support.

Social media is being extensively used by Qatar as a multitude of accounts were created to help spread messages supporting Qatar and criticising the four other countries in the dispute.
